How Do You Time A 224 Massey Ferguson Baler

Timing a Massey Ferguson 224 baler is a relatively simple task, provided you have all the necessary tools and parts. First, remove the belts and belts guards. Now, remove the adjustable tensioning bar and its supporting frame. Once the tensioning bar and frame are removed, you have direct access to the crankshaft gear timing gear. Remove the gear and inspect to make sure that it is not damaged or worn. With the gear removed, you can turn the crankshaft by hand to align the timing marks engraved on the shaft with the number stamped on the gear. When the marks are aligned, install the gear on the shaft, making sure that it engages securely. Now, you can replace the tensioning bar, belt and guard, and then start the baler to check proper timing.
