Tractor
Setting the valves on a Massey Ferguson 65 tractor requires removal of the valve cover. This can be done with a socket wrench and an appropriate socket. Once loose, the valve cover can be removed.
Next, you’ll need to rotate the crankshaft to bring the exhaust and intake valves to their fully closed positions. This can be done by turning the flywheel clockwise.
Once the valves are in the correct position, you’ll now need to adjust the gap between them and the rocker arms. The gap should be between 0.004 inches and 0.006 inches. This can be done with a feeler gauge.
To adjust the gap, the rocker arm nuts must be loosened so that the rocker arm can move. This can be done with a socket wrench.
Next, the feeler gauge should be placed between the valve stem and the rocker arm. If the gap is too wide, the rocker arms should be tightened down until the proper gap is achieved. If the gap is too narrow, the rocker arms should be loosened until the desired gap is achieved.
Finally, the rocker arm nuts should be tightened so that the gap is held at the desired size. The valve cover should then be replaced, and the job is done.
