The steps to setting up the points on a Massey Ferguson 1505 are as follows:
1. Start the engine and turn off the ignition.
2. Secure the engine by engaging the parking brake.
3. Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug.
4. Loosen the distributor cap and rotate the center screw to make sure it is aligned in the middle.
5. Dismiss the Points/Bushings and inspect for any wear, clean them if needed and apply some lubricant.
6. Adjust the screws using a screwdriver; turn clockwise will increase the gap and counterclockwise will reduce the gap, then set the gap to the specifications recommended by the manufacturer.
7. Use an Ohmmeter to check the continuity across the points; the Ohmmeter should show no continuity when the points are open and continuity when they are closed.
8. Reinstall the points/bushings and secure the distributor cap.
9. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
10. Start the engine and check for smooth operation.
