How To Change Hydraulic Filter On Massey Ferguson 165

1. Engage the parking brake and block the wheels on your Massey Ferguson 165 tractor to make sure it will not roll while maintenance is performed.

2. Place a drain pan under the location of the hydraulic filter to catch any spilled oil. The filter is usually located on the right side of the engine, near the oil filter.

3. Loosen the filter with an oil filter wrench, or an adjustable wrench if it is not too tight. Turn the filter counterclockwise to loosen it.

4. Remove the filter from the engine. Allow any remaining oil to drain from the filter and into the pan.

5. Use a clean, lint-free cloth to clean around the old filter, removing any dirt or debris.

6. Place a new, clean filter into the engine. Hand-tighten it and then finish tightening it with the oil filter wrench or adjustable wrench. Do not overtighten the filter.

7. Pour fresh oil into the engine, making sure it is the correct oil recommended by the owner’s manual.

8. Start the engine and allow the oil pressure to build up, which should take no more than a few seconds.

9. Shut off the engine, remove the drain pan, and check the oil level on the dipstick. Add more oil as necessary.

10. Secure the engine cowling, check all fluid levels, and discard the old oil and filter properly.
