How To Operate A Massey Ferguson 240 Tractor

1. Sit in the operator’s seat. Make sure that all safety precautions on the operator’s manual are followed.

2. Start the engine and make sure the choke is in the “off” position.

3. Raise the three-point hitch up to the working position and make sure the release valve is engaged.

4. Engage the clutch with the left hand and the gear shift with the right hand.

5. Move the gear shift forward to select the “high range” position. Move the gear shift back to select the “low range” position.

6. Push the throttle down to increase engine speed and move forward with the clutch depressed.

7. Activate the pto with the switch located near the left leg of the operator.

8. Engage the rear implement to the tractor with the lift arms.

9. Use the appropriate implements as needed to cultivate, plow, mow, dig, or otherwise complete the task at hand.

10. When finished, disengage the rear implement, move the gear shift back to its “neutral” position, and switch off the engine.
