The adjustment of the clutch on a 283 Massey Ferguson is a straightforward process. First, locate the adjustment screws on the left side of the engine, below the bell housing and directly above the clutch housing. Next, loosen the lock nut adjacent to each of the adjustment screws. Rotate the lower adjustment screws clockwise, until there is .003 – .004 inch of free play on the clutch pedal when released. Finally, retighten the lock nuts to secure the clutch adjustments.
