How To Adjust Massey Ferguson Tractor Brakes

1. Park the Massey Ferguson tractor on a flat level surface and set the parking brake.

2. Locate the brake adjustment screw, which is typically located on the back of the tractor, on the left side near the transmission. It is a round, black, Phillips head screw.

3. Remove the adjuster screw from the brake assembly with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

4. Turn the adjuster screw clockwise very slowly until the adjustment nut on the brake shoe comes in contact with the drum. This contact is the starting point for your adjustment.

5. Back off the adjuster screw one or two turns and then pull the parking brake handle and hold it, while tightening the adjuster screw until the parking brake is slightly engaged.

6. Release the parking brake and then check to make sure the brakes are still adjusted evenly. If they are, test the brakes by pressing down on the pedal to see how they respond. If the brakes still seem loose, tighten the adjuster screw slightly and test them again.

7. Repeat this process until you have the desired response. Make sure the brakes are adjusted evenly and not too tightly, otherwise they will wear out prematurely.
