Massey Ferguson was started in the United Kingdom by Daniel Massey and Harry Ferguson in the year 1847. Massey, a blacksmith, and Ferguson, an engineer, established the company, originally known as the Massey-Harris Co., in Newcastle, Ontario, Canada.
The company began by making combines and farm machinery, but eventually broadened its scope to include tractors, agricultural implements, industrial and construction equipment. In 1953, Massey merged with the Ferguson Company, creating the iconic Massey-Ferguson brand, which went on to become the brand name most often associated with the company.
Today, Massey Ferguson is owned and operated by the AGCO Corporation, a global agricultural equipment company. It continues to produce reliable farm machinery and equipment that farmers around the world have come to depend on.
