The Massey Ferguson 245 clutch adjustment is done by adjusting the linkage on the outside of the transmission. The linkage consists of a set of small metal rods that connect the clutch pedal to the transmission. These metal rods can be adjusted, thus altering the throw of the clutch. To adjust the linkage, the following steps should be followed:
1. Identify the metal rods that operate the clutch and make sure all other parts are properly connected and in place.
2. Loosen the nuts that secure the rods that operate the clutch.
3. Make sure the rods are free to move.
4. Move the rods to adjust the throw of the clutch. Generally, turning the rod counter-clockwise will increase the throw, while turning it clockwise will decrease it.
5. Test the clutch both in its engaged and disengaged positions to make sure it is adjusted properly.
6. Once the desired throw has been obtained, re-tighten the securing nuts and return the transmission to its operational mode.
