How To Plumb A Massey Ferguson 1440V For A Backhoe

1. Connect the hydraulic lines coming from the backhoe to the auxiliary hydraulics ports on the Massey Ferguson 1440V tractor. These hoses will have several connector nut and O-ring sets that need to be connected. Make sure all connectors are tight and there are no leaks.

2. Connect the hydraulic power steering line to the relief valve coupling at the back of the pump. The power steering hose fits at the top of the coupling and connects to the relief valve.

3. Connect the lift cylinder hose to the control valve. This hose runs from the control valve to the lift cylinder with the arrow on the hose indicating the flow direction.

4. Connect the hydraulic directional control valve lines to the hydraulic directional control valve. These lines attach to the valve at the two ports labeled ‘in’ and ‘out’.

5. Connect the hydraulic flow regulator lines to the flow regulator located on the left side of the tractor.

6. Connect the control valve lines to the valve on the right side of the tractor. These lines attach to the inlet, outlet and drain ports.

7. Connect the joystick controls to the control valve. Depending on the type of backhoe, this may involve connector nut sets, brake fitting or other methods.

8. Connect the swing cylinder lines to the swing cylinder at the back of the tractor.

9. Connect the dipper cylinder lines to the dipper cylinder at the back of the tractor.

10. Connect any remaining hoses or wiring to their appropriate connections. Make sure all connections are tight and free of leaks.

11. Fill the hydraulic system reservoir with the appropriate fluid.

12. Start the tractor engine and test the backhoe operation to make sure everything is working correctly.
