Was Massey Ferguson 50 A 12V Or 6V System

The Massey Ferguson 50 tractor was originally manufactured with a 6-volt electrical system but many were converted to 12-volt systems. The conversion allows the tractor to take advantage of 12-volt starters, alternators and other components. The electrical system was changed from 6-volt to 12-volt by replacing the existing alternator with a 12-volt unit, replacing the existing wiring with heavier gauge wiring and changing the 6-volt battery to a 12-volt battery. Some other changes may also be required, such as updating the regulator or replacing the voltage switches.
