Massey Ferguson Brantford officially closed its doors in 2003. The closure of the plant was announced in April of 2001, following a period of financial difficulty. Prior to the closure, the plant had been a major contributor to the local economy for more than 50 years, providing employment for more than 1,500 workers. The closure resulted in significant economic hardship for the Brantford area, and other smaller plants in the region were subsequently impacted.
