Massey Ferguson started making tractors in Indonesia in the late 1960s. In 1966, the Indonesian government and Massey Ferguson signed an agreement to allow the production of Massey Ferguson tractors in the country. Between 1967 and 1973, a large number of Massey Ferguson tractors were produced in Indonesia. Initially, these tractors were only available to certain large-scale farms with government approval. However, these tractors soon became popular in the Indonesian agricultural sector, and by 1973, production had reached 14,000 units. In 2003, the number of Massey Ferguson tractors in Indonesia was estimated to be over 70,000. The company continues to produce and distribute its products in the country today.
