1. Check the steering for play. If there is play, check the steering box for worn parts, such as the steering ball, steering shaft, steering gears, steering cross, steering bearing and steering pin. Replace any worn parts as necessary.
2. Check the steering linkage for tightness. Tighten any loose nuts and bolts that may have come loose.
3. Adjust the steering – adjust the cross and ball joint bolts to proper torques, as specified by the owner’s manual.
4. If the tractor is equipped with a hydraulic power steering system, make sure the hydraulic fluid level is correct and that the system is working properly.
5. Check the tires for proper inflation and alignment. Be sure that the tread is not worn in any one place.
6. Grease the steering components as necessary.
7. Check the brakes and make sure they are adjusted properly.
