The tachometer on a Massey Ferguson 1635 tractor is a mechanical tachometer. It reads and interprets engine RPM, and it is located in the instrument cluster in the cab of the tractor. The tachometer operates utilizing a drive cable and sensor that measure the revolutions per minute of the tractor engine. The sensor is mounted on the engine and the cable enters the instrument panel to connect to the tachometer mechanism. The mechanism then displays the RPM on the tachometer face or dial.
